Titan trommel screens redefine the industry standard in heavy-duty screening
Trommel screens are used for the toughest, dirtiest, and most challenging applications, often by composting and mulching plants, or for woodyard and log yard clearing, and in municipal solid waste (MSW) plants. A trommel screen is built to withstand high-use, extremely demanding conditions, delivering vibration-free, low-cost, low-noise operations. Our WSM Titan trommel screens deliver the market’s highest volume screening and compost screening capacities.
What is a trommel screen?
Trommel screens are based around an inclined, cylindrical steel framework which contains woven wire mesh or perforated steel plate screens. The cylinder turns using fixed steel tires that rotate on trunnion wheels. As material is fed into the upper section of the rotating drum cylinder, it rides up the sides and then falls to the drum base. As with all screening systems, the size of the trommel screen mesh or plate perforations dictate which material passes through, with the smallest particles being screened-off and the overs remaining in the drum. These continue along the cylinder until reaching the end, where they are discharged for further processing.
WSM Titan trommel screens provide precise sorting for a wide range of materials, with multiple classifications available from just one unit. A WSM trommel screen is ideal for screening bark and compost materials for use as landscaping and soil amendment products, and can also be specified for screening asphalt shingles, glass, food waste, sand and shredded plastic.
WSM titan trommel screens: individually built for every application
A wide range of sizes and capacities are available along with, custom-built solutions to meet very specific needs. Our screens are available in 1.22m (4ft), 1.83m 6 (ft), 2.44m (8ft), and 3.05m (10ft) drum diameters and lengths from 4.57m (15ft) to 19.2m (63ft) with production capacities of up to 459m3/hr (600 cubic yards per hour).
WSM Titan trommels are especially built for heavy-duty applications and are designed to provide years of trouble-free separation. They have a robust structural steel mainframe, which minimizes material accumulations. Full covers allow access to multiple screen sections at one time, making periodic inspection simple and screen replacement faster. Our trommel covers also feature a sealing system.
Our Titan model represent a step-change in trommel screen innovation, redefining the industry standard for this type of machine. Outstanding features start with the trommel drum or barrel, which has infeed diverter rings to minimize fugitive material escaping. A heavy-duty segmented chain drive, with shock-absorbing base, minimizes machinery shock loads, noise, stress and wear. Also, the drive gear is removable for maintenance. Modular interchangeable screen sections can be selected as per application, including wire or plate options. Optional discharge conveyors are available and can include multiple conveyor types, which can be specified for corresponding separation sizes and associated supports.
Other additional features include: nylon bristle screen cleaning brush assemblies, which are individually removable for quick service and minimal downtime; trunnion assemblies that are mounted onto heavy-duty roller bearings for long service lives; low-stress welded, structural tubing lifter assemblies; and optional infeed and discharge chutes and access platforms for maintenance.
