Our mission is to eliminate waste, dust emissions and spillage from dry bulk handling, wood-processing, and forestry operations, and to leverage our technology, our knowledge, and our industry influence to accelerate positive global change.

We recognize that we work in some environmentally intensive industries, but our growing global population, expected to reach around 10 billion people by 2050, requires infrastructure, power and food. Sustainability within this, is about long-term survival in an ecological, social and economic equilibrium, which we are all part of.

Sustainability has no borders; it extends beyond us as individual companies and means that our influence can reach further. Change must start somewhere, and we believe that businesses are one of the greatest platforms to influence and drive industry transformation. Through our unique set of skills and capabilities, we want to enable our customers to adopt the most sustainable models of dry bulk handling and wood-processing operations.

Sustainability report 2023 - highlights

A single word, set to change the world

Sustainability is on the world’s agenda, and for good reason. Our current decade, the 'decade of action’, is the most critical for making positive, sustainable change. The United Nations (UN) Environment Programme report warns that unless global greenhouse gas emissions fall by 7.6 percent each year between 2020 and 2030, we will miss the 1.5°C temperature goal of the 2015 Paris Agreement, and experience irreversible consequences such as more rapid species extinction, mass coral bleaching, sea level rises and more extreme temperatures and weather.

ESG - Environmental, Social, and Governance

Bruks Siwertell supports the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) defined by the UN in the 2015 Paris Agreement, and is committed to the 'Ten principles' of the UN Global Compact. ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) is a framework used to assess an organization's business practices and performance on various sustainability and ethical issues. It also provides a way to measure business risks and opportunities in those areas.

Environmental includes factors related to a company's impact on the environment, such as its carbon emissions, resource usage, waste management, and approach to climate change. Social encompasses factors that reflect a company's impact on society, including its labor practices, treatment of employees, community relations, diversity and inclusion policies, and product safety. Governance refers to factors related to a company's internal governance structure, board composition, executive compensation, shareholder rights, and transparency.

Bruks Siwertell's sustainability work is assessed from an ESG perspective, and is linked to the seventeen SDGs. We support and integrate these into the Group’s policies and processes.

Our 2030 ambitions

Bruks Siwertell wants to set the sustainability standard for the industries that we serve and with ambitious targets, make a positive impact on surrounding ecosystems. Since 2022, we have published full sustainability reports, including details on our sustainability focus areas and measurable goals, as well as on our sustainability achievements onwards.

We do this by solving our customers’ sustainability challenges with our Eco Portfolio equipment, services and software.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked goals designed to be a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by 2030. Bruks Siwertell supports these goals, and we are actively working to develop our own sustainability policy to be in line with them.

The world's largest corporate sustainability initiative

The UN Global Compact aims to mobilize a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders to create the world we want. That’s their vision. To make this happen, the UN Global Compact supports companies to do business responsibly by aligning their strategies and operations with Ten Principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption; and to take strategic actions to advance broader societal goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation.
