A SMARTER INVESTMENT: CHOOSE LONG-TERM VALUE

The equipment a dry bulk handling operator chooses today will impact a terminal’s profits and performance decades down the line. We offer technology that delivers the best long-term economic and environmental solution.

Calculate real-term costs

When it comes to dry bulk handling, the actual cost of equipment goes far beyond the purchase price. Energy use, equipment weight, maintenance, spillage, environmental impact, downtime, ease of operation, vessel turnaround times, and jetty utilization rates all shape total cost of ownership, and ultimately, terminal profitability.

We design our Siwertell screw-type conveyor technology to deliver lasting financial returns that quickly outweigh the initial investment. Many customers report a rapid return on investment (ROI), and it is not unusual to see full payback within just two years, and operational savings that extend for decades.

See how Siwertell technology pays off

  • Boosts unloading efficiency: smooth, continuous operation, reaching into every corner of the hold, maximizes through-ship efficiency and minimizes payloader requirements; final hold clean-up is efficient with an integrated payloader hoist
  • Eliminates waste: no lost cargo and minimal rates of material degradation
  • Protects the environment: enclosed conveying lines, with a counter-rotating inlet feeder that draws material into the conveyor beneath the cargo surface, ensure no spillage and minimal dust emissions
  • Increases jetty utilization rates: faster vessel turnarounds allow for more shipments per year
  • Reduces energy consumption: smooth torque and steady conveying reduce energy use and minimize component wear
  • Lower equipment weight and steel costs: minimizes or eliminates jetty reinforcements
  • Minimizes personnel requirements: one operator can control a Siwertell unloader
  • Operational flexibility: handles virtually any dry bulk, including compacted, volatile and sensitive materials, safely and efficiency
  • Lowers through-life costs: delivers extremely energy-efficient operations, and extended component lifetimes and quality parts reduce maintenance and operating expenses

Do the maths, it’s worth it

Understanding your total cost of ownership is essential. We offer tailored ROI calculations that compare Siwertell solutions with alternative systems. Our experts analyze your materials, ship sizes, energy use, and port terminal throughput to reveal the true long-term value of Siwertell technology and demonstrate its ability to deliver substantial savings over the equipment’s service life.

Proven results: real ROI in action

Bruks Siwertell has decades of experience with all types of dry bulks, from volatile materials such as sulfur, abrasive bulks like coal, to sensitive cargoes such as biomass pellets, alumina and grain, where material degradation can spoil a shipment and place a heavy cost on the downstream industry. Find out more about the wide range of dry bulk materials that a Siwertell ship unloader is engineered to handle.

We also have long-standing references in cement handling, for example:

In 2006, a rail-mounted Siwertell ST 640-D unloader, was delivered to Houston Cement, Texas. The rail-mounted ST 640-D unloader exceeded its guaranteed rated capacity of 1,500t/h, achieving 1,646t/h. Through-ship capacity surpassed 1,050t/h, and energy consumption tests achieved 0.39 kWh/t. Since commissioning, this unloader has handled over 10 million metric tons of cement, cutting unloading days by 50 percent, halving berth occupancy, and achieving ROI in under two years.

The unloading rates offered by the Siwertell technology at Houston Cement set a new world record, and were so far ahead of the market that the unloader remains extremely competitive today.

Technology you can count on

With Siwertell technology, an owner can know that its investment will benefit from our through-life commitment to service support and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) spare and wear parts.

Siwertell technology delivers years of reliable performance, handling billions of tons of materials and offering lower operating costs in comparison with any other competing capacity system on the market. Through quality parts and continuous research and development, we have also significantly improved component lifetimes and extended screw conveyor service lives across our ship unloading and unloading portfolio, ensuring even greater reductions in maintenance costs.

It all adds up

It is our mission to help operators reduce environmental impact, minimize daily operating costs, and maximize profitability. Every element of dry bulk handling, from the number of operators required and the energy consumed, to vessel discharge rates, jetty turnaround times, cleaning requirements, and the lifespan of wear parts, carries a significant cost-saving potential that can directly improve operating expenditure (OpEx).

To unlock these savings, operators should consider OpEx projections from day one, as lifetime operating costs often far exceed the initial purchase price. By combining our screw-type Siwertell technology designs, high efficiencies, and low maintenance requirements, we can deliver exceptional ROI while enabling cleaner, more sustainable operations.
