Capital Sales – Project Development Engineer

Bruks Siwertell, Inc. Americas, located in Alpharetta, GA, specializes in bulk material handling within a variety of industry segments. These industries include Bioenergy, Biofuel, Board & Sawmills, Cement, Coal, Grain/Agriculture, Mining, and Pulp & Paper. These segments are divided internally into two business sectors, Bulk and Port.  

To support these sectors, we utilize the position of Project Development Engineer (“PDE”).

Project Development Engineers are responsible for designing, planning, and managing all aspects of the sales lifecycle for material handling systems. These systems will encompass all Bruks Siwertell, Inc. products including conveyors, stackers and reclaimers, chippers, truck dumps, etc. The role involves evaluating customer requirements, developing conceptual system arrangements and technical solutions, conducting feasibility studies, creating detailed cost estimates and proposal offerings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
The PDE is instrumental to the success of the overall sales department and will be crucial to the support of business development and marketing efforts. 

General Expectations:

  • Assess project feasibility by evaluating technology, resources, and market demand
  • Conceptualize customized material handling systems according to client-specific needs
  • Collaborate with all internal departments including engineering and project management
  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure client requirements are satisfied
  • Prepare detailed multi-discipline technical proposals, cost estimates and sales documentation
  • Develop project specific schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Coordinate with all external stakeholders, including the client and sub-vendors
  • Develop and maintain sales material, including drawings, videos, and presentations
  • Coordinate with all Bruks Siwertell business units to ensure customer expectations are satisfied
  • Mentor junior sales engineers and provide knowledgeable support
  • Support business growth through marketing and business development sales efforts as needed

The position of PDE is crucial to the overall success of the Bruks Siwertell, Inc. Americas Sales Team.  Success will be measured by:

  • Achievement of annual Americas Sales forecast
  • Ability to successfully manage all aspects of the sales lifecycle for material handling systems
  • Ability to support sales efforts independently with minimal guidance  
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers
  • Understanding of market conditions and industry factors
  • Aptitude to develop comprehensive sales budgets and technical proposal documents

Requirements - Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field
  • 5+ years relevant professional experience related to bulk materials handling
  • Skilled in facilitating discussions with diverse stakeholders, including engineering teams, operations staff, and executive leadership
  • Experience reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing contracts, agreements, and terms and conditions
  • Familiarity with risk management, compliance, or procurement processes is a plus
  • Proficient skill in developing detailed cost estimates, for both direct and indirect job costs
  • Experience working in a fast-paced project-oriented environment
  • Knowledgeable in heavy industrial equipment including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components, as well as steel fabrication, machining and assembly processes.
  • Understanding of practices/principles for bulk material handling systems
  • International business experience will be considered as preferred
  • Experience working with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks PDM.
  • Proficient skills using MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word Processing) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Tool

Working Hours & Travel Expectations

  • Average 40 hours a week/ 5 days per week
  • Base Hours 8:00-5:00 (Monday – Thursday), Half-day Friday
  • 24/7 availability is necessary to ensure critical items are handled
  • Travel 25% (typically scheduled sales visits and trade shows) – North America and Europe
