Siwertell road-mobile ship unloader ensures efficient cement handling in Libyan port

Bruks Siwertell has delivered a next-generation Siwertell 10 000 S road-mobile ship unloader to Belgium company, SST BELGË NV. It is now securing flexible, environment-friendly cement handling at the port of Benghazi, Libya, boosting the efficiency of regional supply chains.

Originally designed for handling cement, their success in this sector continues to grow.”

The unloader’s installation at the port of Benghazi will play a critical role in boosting regional trade. The port is part of the emerging Julyana Freezone, which was established in 2023 to streamline logistics and supply chain services. Benghazi serves as a major transit hub for landlocked countries like Chad and Niger, facilitating the movement of goods from ship to shore and onward by train to inland dry ports.

The 10 000 S road-mobile ship unloader offers a continuous rated cement handling capacity of 300t/h and can efficiently discharge vessels of up to 10,000 dwt. The system features totally enclosed conveying lines and dust filters, minimizing dust emissions and ensuring the industry’s highest environmental protection standards. It also has a double-bellows discharge arrangement with an automatic shifting function, ensuring fast, efficient material transfers directly to waiting trucks. 

The unloader was delivered in October 2024 and included a two-day comprehensive training program. It was held in Bjuv, Sweden, and involved a theoretical overview of the unloader and all its systems, operating manual, and maintenance and service recommendations, along with practical operator handling.
