Out now: latest edition of Bruks Siwertell company magazine, Bruks Siwertell News

6 Jan 2025

Bruks Siwertell has published the latest issue of its company magazine, the newly renamed Bruks Siwertell News. “This change reflects our expanding commitment to wood and fiber handling and processing, as well as innovative, sustainable solutions for the dry bulk handling industry,” notes Peter Jonsson, CEO, Bruks Siwertell Group.

“In this issue, we can see the transformative impact of our technology across multiple industries,” Jonsson continues. “We are also looking to the future, and exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning will play an even greater role in reshaping productivity, safety, and sustainability.

“Although AI will not handle dry bulk materials directly, its ability to process vast amounts of data and support informed, efficient decision-making, will be invaluable across supply chains; we are investigating how to maximize the benefits of this,” he adds.

The magazine showcases the importance of excellence in customer care and presents several exciting developments, including the use of augmented reality in select planned service agreements, empowering customers with hands-on, real-time technical support.

Other advances include the introduction of radar-based anti-collision systems for use with Siwertell ship unloaders. These also enable semi-automatic unloading, which ensure the unloader’s counter-rotating inlet feeder is precisely positioned, maintaining best operational practice and maximizing through-ship efficiency and safety.

“I am delighted that our efforts to optimize safety were recognized at the end of 2024, with us winning the International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Safety in Bulk Handling Award,” notes Jonsson. “For us, it highlights the market-leading capabilities of Siwertell ship unloaders, including a key innovation: the Siwertell Sulfur Safety System (4S), which is also featured in this issue.”

In the face of increasing capacity demands and climate change, ports need to be ready, and part of this is remaining fit for purpose and safe. A feature about aging port equipment is a reminder to consider assessing the structural integrity and efficiency of global port equipment.

In wood processing, the introduction of new mobile wood chipping models, which feature customer-driven developments to enhance efficiency and deliver operational benefits, are discussed, along with how a Bruks Klöckner byproduct handling system, installed at a leading Swiss sawmill, is supporting the plant’s strategic capacity increases and sustainability ambitions.

Bruks Siwertell News also reflects on initiatives aimed at meeting Bruks Siwertell Group’s sustainability targets, as well as being part of, and supporting, sustainable supply chains.
