New model Siwertell road-mobile ship unloader ordered for lime-handling operations in Western Europe

8 Dec 2025

Bruks Siwertell has secured an order for its latest next-generation Siwertell 5 000 S road-mobile ship unloader model from a new customer in Western Europe. The contract, placed by an undisclosed operator, reinforces Siwertell technology’s market position and the lime-handling industry’s confidence in the performance capabilities of road-mobile ship unloaders.

“We see this order as a key enabler for additional opportunities within the wider lime-handling segment,” says Jörgen Ojeda, Sales Director, Mobile Unloaders, Bruks Siwertell. “Our Siwertell road-mobile ship unloading technology is already well established in this sector, and this new contract marks a significant milestone in strengthening this position.

“Road-mobile unloaders require minimal infrastructure, can be operational within an hour of arrival, and can easily serve multiple ports,” he continues. “Their reliability and adaptability make them an ideal match for customers seeking operational flexibility and long-term cost efficiency.”

The new Siwertell 5 000 S road-mobile unloader will handle calcium oxide (quicklime) at a continuous rated capacity of 130t/h, discharging vessels up to 5,000 dwt. It will replace the customer’s existing self-unloading vessel arrangement. “This model is ideally matched to the capacity, size and type of vessels that the operator currently receives,” explains Ojeda. “It will not only offer a very efficient, and significantly more cost-effective alternative, but will also meet the unique handling requirements of lime.”

Quicklime is a powdery, reactive, free-flowing dry bulk material used in multiple industries, including iron and steel making, paper and pulp manufacture, water treatment and construction.

Siwertell screw-type ship unloaders offer the highest levels of environmental protection, critical when handling this type of material. They are fully enclosed, ensuring minimal dust emissions and spillage-free conveying. Road-mobile unloaders also have integrated dust filtration, capturing fugitive dust at transfer points, and a double-bellows discharge arrangement. These features ensure clean, safe, and highly efficient quicklime unloading, protecting both the environment and on-site personnel.

“This 5 000 S model also represents the latest iteration of our next-generation systems, which deliver enhanced operational intelligence, equipment availability and serviceability,” Ojeda adds. “They are designed to offer the very best trailer-based terminal capabilities that the market can provide, and for those working with demanding materials like quicklime, this delivers a major operational advantage.”

The next-generation v2 model will be electrically powered and equipped with advanced digital technology for remote access, diagnostics, and service support. A central lubrication system further reduces maintenance requirements, contributing to low lifecycle costs. It is scheduled for delivery fully assembled from Bruks Siwertell’s facility in Bjuv, Sweden, in the first quarter of 2026 and will enter operations shortly afterwards.
