Bruks Siwertell secures PMU ship unloader order for Egypt
5 Aug 2026
Bruks Siwertell has secured an order for the supply of two Siwertell Port Mobile Unloader (PMU) for grain handling operations in Egypt.
The order represents another important milestone in the expansion of the Siwertell portfolio and further strengthens Bruks Siwertell's position in one of the world's largest grain-importing markets, where continued investments in modern port infrastructure support increasing grain import volumes and food security.
Flexible grain handling with minimal infrastructure requirements
The scope of supply comprises of two Siwertell Port Mobile Unoaders (PMU), engineered to efficiently unload grain vessels while requiring only limited port infrastructure. The system will be installed at a grain terminal in Egypt, supporting efficient vessel turnaround and increased operational flexibility.
Built on Siwertell's proven continuous screw conveyor technology, the PMU combines enclosed conveying with gentle material handling, minimizing dust emissions and product degradation while delivering industry-leading energy efficiency throughout the unloading process.
The PMU also offers superior reach and digging forces compared with many conventional mobile unloading solutions, enabling efficient cargo recovery across a wide range of vessel sizes and geometries. These capabilities are particularly valuable when handling more demanding bulk materials, such as soybean meal, where efficient material recovery and continuous unloading performance are essential.
The customer selected the Siwertell PMU for its ability to increase unloading capacity without extensive investments in fixed infrastructure. Its design enables efficient deployment while providing the flexibility to support future terminal expansion and changing operational requirements. By combining operational flexibility with high performance across a broad range of dry bulk commodities, the PMU offers a future-ready solution for evolving terminal requirements.
"The global grain market continues to evolve, placing increasing demands on terminal operators to improve efficiency while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to future needs," says Per Hansson, Operations Director, Bruks Siwertell.
"The Siwertell PMU aim to address exactly these challenges. By utilizing proven continuous screw conveying technology, it provides operators with a reliable, environmentally sustainable solution that can be deployed with significantly lower infrastructure requirements than many conventional alternatives. We are delighted to support another customer in strengthening its grain handling capabilities."
Supporting the future of grain logistics
As international grain trade continues to grow, terminal operators are increasingly seeking solutions that can expand capacity while reducing environmental impact and investment complexity. The Siwertell PMU addresses these requirements through a combination of operational reliability, energy efficiency, superior cargo recovery and swift deployment, making it well suited for both new terminals and capacity expansion projects.
This latest order further reinforces Bruks Siwertell's position as a leading supplier of sustainable dry bulk handling solutions and expands the installed base of Siwertell technology across the Middle East and North Africa.
