Gain a competitive edge in grain handling

BRUKS SIWERTELL LEADS THE FIELD IN GRAIN HANDLING

Grain is the third largest cargo that Bruks Siwertell machines handle, amounting to around 600 million metric tons every year.

We understand what it takes to operate with a competitive edge. Grain handlers have to meet some of the most challenging dry bulk material demands. Import and export terminals are subject to massive surges in intake from the seasonality of crop harvests. Their dry bulk equipment must match these, and offer consistently high capacities for maximum profitability, but also maintain the quality of shipments through sensitive handling.

Siwertell unloaders are designed to operate efficiently in even the most extreme climates. For, example, our latest project in the region has a design temperature of 55 degrees Celsius.

DELIVERING ON EVERY LEVEL

Bruks Siwertell is the only manufacturer of unloading systems that can deliver on all the needs of grain operators. Our ship unloaders offer high rated capacities and excellent through-ship performance right up to the final clean-up phase. Siwertell ship unloaders can move within a hold, even under the hatch coamings, offering pendulum, luffing, and slewing motions. They can be fitted on rails, so can travel the full length of a ship, delivering excellent hold reach and optimizing grain unloading.

The capabilities offered by Siwertell ship unloaders have enabled some operators to reduce their unloading days by 50 percent, or more depending on capacity, translating into a 50 percent reduction in berth occupancy and the possibility of higher annual intakes, positively impacting return on investment.

MARKET-LEADING CAPACITIES

Siwertell screw-type ship unloaders can discharge grain and other agri-bulk commodities at rated capacities up to 1,800t/h. Our grain-handling attributes also include the highest continuous rated loading capacities, which are in excess of 3,000t/h.

They also have the capacity to deliver significant digging forces for compacted materials, such as soya meal. This ensures continuous high-capacity discharges without the need for any significant additional support from payloaders within the holds.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Grain handling can be a dusty business. Our totally-enclosed systems provide exceptional environmental protection, ensuring dust-free material transfers and no spillage.

MAINTAINING GRAIN QUALITY

Damaged grains are not only unusable, but can cause a higher percentage of powdery fines, making the grain more difficult to aerate, leading to higher spoilage rates and, in some circumstances, increasing the risk of fires.

Our unloading systems handle grain so carefully, with a continuous conveying velocity, eliminating high-impact particle collisions. This results in minimal material degradation, and therefore the production of fines; beneficial both for the environment and profitability.

MAKING A GOOD INVESTMENT

The best machinery not only achieves its function, but also delivers the lowest possible through-life costs, known as the total cost of ownership (TCO). Our ship unloaders make good financial sense.

INSTALLATION

Our competitively-priced unloaders and loaders are compact and lightweight compared to most traditional systems. This often eliminates the need for expensive jetty modifications. Siwertell road-mobile unloaders and port-mobile unloaders remove the need for port infrastructure almost entirely.

OPERATION

Siwertell equipment delivers many economic advantages: the energy cost per metric ton of material handled is extremely low; through-ship performance is excellent, maximizing efficiency and reducing the time that a vessel spends at the berth, increasing a terminal’s utilization rates. Operator requirements are minimal.

With no spillage, clean-up costs are negligible and there is no loss of cargo. Material degradation rates are very low, maintaining shipment quality.

SERVICE & MAINTENANCE

Siwertell systems have a solid reputation for reliability, reducing the chance of unplanned downtime and its associated costs. We have a global network offering through-life original equipment manufacturer (OEM) support for spare parts and service.

Maintenance costs are minimized because of the excellent build-quality and the long life-expectancy of wear parts. When major changes are required Siwertell units can be upgraded, modernized and relocated if necessary, so operators can be safe in the knowledge that their ownership of a Siwertell machine will keep paying off throughout its life.

Siwertell unloaders offer important cost savings through:

  • High through-ship capacities, resulting in minimized berth occupancy, higher terminal utilization rates and lower shipping costs
  • Efficiently handling free-flowing and compacted materials
  • Low energy consumption
  • Easy operation, with minimal operator requirements
  • No material waste through spillage, and therefore minimal clean-up costs
  • Lightweight design, minimizing jetty reinforcements
  • Reliability, minimizing downtime
  • Long service life and efficient OEM support

Bruks Siwertell has a global reference book, and offers unique advantage to grain handlers all over the world.
