Wood processing - Russia
Leading Russian timber giant relies on Bruks technology
A new pellet plant at the Amursk Advanced Wood-Processing Center, in the Khabarovsk Krai region in eastern Russia, needed a reliable transport and storage system for wood chips and sawdust; one which would handle each material individually, with consistent, reliable performance.
Customer need
In 2017, Russia Forest Products (RFP) Group, launched production at its new lumber mill within the company’s Amursk Advanced Wood-Processing Center. The opening of the new mill expanded on the center’s first phase, which saw a high-capacity veneer production plant enter operation in 2013. Planned for launch in 2020 is the third phase of RFP’s Amursk development, which will see a new pellet plant come on line for the company, complementing the range of facilities at this leading wood-processing center.
The pellet plant has a projected capacity of around 100,000 metric tons per year, with a possible increase up to 135,000 metric tons. It required a high-capacity wood chip and sawdust handling system that would not only keep the materials separate, but also ensure their consistent, reliable supply to the facility, guaranteeing its production capacity.
The Amursk site, in Russia’s far east, benefits from key transportation links such as the Trans-Siberian-Railway network, which has the capacity to deliver huge volumes of processed wood to the entire center. Loads also come in by road trucks.
Our solution
To ensure the consistently high production demands of the new pellet plant, Amurskaja Wood Timber Company, ordered a Bruks transport and storage system for hard and soft wood chips and sawdust, with CS 800 L conveyors. The system delivers a total capacity of around 300 m3/hr of loose material and not only proved to be the best solution, but was also cost-competitive in comparison with other alternatives.
The complete line, along with conveyors, is seamlessly integrated into the center’s existing material handling system infrastructure. This ensures optimum transport and material storage.
RFP is no stranger to Bruks technology and knows that it can rely on it to deliver the required quality and performance. At a separate facility, the Amurskaja LK veneer plant, RFP currently operates a DH-V 300/400 drum chipper for veneer chips with a capacity of 75m³ of chips per hour, as well as two other Bruks wood chip handling systems, delivered several years ago.
Another subsidiary of RFP, Dallesprom, a forestry company within the Group, has recently celebrated operating for almost ninety years, and it too relies on technology from Bruks Siwertell.
