Ship unloader - Mexico
Complying with strict regulations in Mexico
This Siwertell continuous screw-type ship unloader was supplied to Comercializadora La Junta, Grain Terminal in Manzanillo, Mexico. One of the main requirements was that it had to be light-weight due to the already existing jetty dimensions.
About
The basis for the selection of the Siwertell was the ability to meet the requirements of very low wheel loads on the jetty, combined with high efficiency. The unloader could easily be adapted to the port and jetty conditions; discharge to an elevated conveyor and a weight below 300t, with a maximum wheel load of 25 tonnes.
The terminal at La Junta is a state-of-the-art unloading and storage facility, consisting in its first phase of two storage domes, each with a capacity of 25,000 metric tonnes. This arrangement makes it possible to unload 50,000 dwt vessels with two different commodities.
The grain conveying system has a rated capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes per hour. There is also a rail track yard that enables 50 railcars to be loaded at the same rate, and commodities to be conveyed directly from the unloader to railcars.
