Siwertell ship loader - Indonesia

Clean, efficient cement loading for Indonesian port
When engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) expanded cement export facilities for PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia in Tuban, it turned to Bruks Siwertell’s proven ship loading technology. The HST 1000 1B-type loader ensures efficient, dust-free cement loading for this modernized terminal.
CUSTOMER NEED
To support increased production at the Tuban cement plant, on the Indonesian island of Java, state-run operator PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia required a high-capacity ship loading solution that could match the facility’s growing export ambitions.
With a newly constructed jetty designed to receive larger vessels of up to 50,000 dwt, the customer needed to boost loading capacity while also meeting strict environmental standards. Clean, enclosed material handling was a key requirement, ensuring a dust-free operation that protects both workers and the surrounding environment.
The new system also had to offer flexibility, with the capability of loading conventional bulk carriers with either open or closed hatches as well as self-unloading vessels, and integrate with the plant’s new jetty conveyor system.
OUR SOLUTION
In 2022, ordered by engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, PT Hutama Karaya (Persero), on behalf of PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia, Bruks Siwertell supplied an HST 1000 1B-type ship loader.
The installation is designed for the continuous, enclosed handling of Portland cement at 1,000t/h, and its enclosed conveying line eliminates dust emissions, ensuring a clean and environmentally friendly operation.
It is equipped with a tripper, and has a dual-loading configuration, with a skirted bellow for open hatches and a coned spout for closed hatches, providing operational flexibility and performance. Compact, efficient, and easy to maintain, the HST 1000 1B represents one of the most reliable cement loading solutions in its class.
The ship loading solution was seamlessly integrated with the customer’s new jetty belt conveyor, and achieved its rated capacity expectations during commissioning trials.
Furthermore, by replacing older, less efficient ship loading technology, the new dry bulk handling equipment helps the customer achieve faster vessel turnaround times, improved environmental performance, and long-term reliability in a key Indonesian cement export terminal.
The installation delivers what was needed: a robust, future-ready loading system that serves the plant’s expansion ambitions to support regional development, and reflects the customer’s commitment to efficient, sustainable cement handling.
